Yankee Stadium Is Getting All This Attention, but What about Shea?

Shea Stadium. Home to the New York Mets. Sure, it's only been here since 1964, and I realize that Yankee Stadium has been around since 1923. I know that the Yankees have played so many games here, so many World Series, and so many historical moments. It is the best stadium in the Western Hemisphere. Still, Shea Stadium needs some talk.

Shea is among the top five best MLB stadiums. It's had its World Series, including greats like the rough gang of 1969. Most people said they had no chance to win. They were just a bunch of guys thrown together who won it all.

Then there was 1986. The story wasn't as much about the Mets as it was about Bill Buckner. The Game Six between the legs was one of the most famous moments in baseball history. Where did this happen? Shea Stadium!

The New York Mets have always been one of the richest and biggest teams and have shared with the Yankees since the '60s. Just like the Yankees, their new ballpark is in the backyard.

There stadium is going to be gone soon. With Citi Park coming, the Mets would expect the mourning of the park to be happening across the nation. Too bad their ending year will always be associated with Yankee Stadium. Shea Stadium will never get the gratitude that its great years deserve.

So what are the greatest parks? Here are my top five.

1) Yankee Stadium, New York Yankees

2) Fenway Park, Boston Red Sox

3) Wrigley Field, Chicago Cubs

4) Shea Stadium, New York Mets

5) Miller Park, Milwaukee Brewers
