Twins Face 1st Place Sox in Biggest Series This Season

With just six games left in the regular season Ron Gardenhire and the Minnesota Twins are in need of a huge three game sweep against the first place Chicago White Sox. The Twins and Sox will meet for the last time in a three game series at the Metrodome starting Tuesday night when Baker (9-4) and Vazquez (12-14) get things started.

To keep the post season dreams alive for the Twins their going to need to take at least two of three from the Sox. Going into the series the Twins trail Ozzie Guillen and his White Sox by 2 1/2 games.

The Twins will be finishing their season against Kansas City at home with a three game set after facing the Sox.Meanwhile the Sox finish their season against the Indians.

However, if the Sox and Twins are within a half game of each other the White Sox regular season won't be over quite yet. The Sox will have a make-up game against the Tigers if necessary.

With the Indians and Royals getting to play spoiler, the Twins and Sox are going to have to fight feverishly to the very end in order to get a playoff spot.

The Twins had one of the most exciting finishes to a regular season ever a couple years ago when their regular season was over and their playoff dreams were left up to the last place unlikely Royals.

The Royals needed to beat the first place Tigers and if so this would make the Twins division champs. At the end of nine innings Kansas City 10, Detroit 8. The Royals played spoiler and made the Twins division champs yet once again. While the Royals play the same role again the Twins are hoping the season doesn't end on Sunday

With tempers high and pain, injury and fatigue kicking in, and one playoff spot left and two teams fighting for it, it is going to be again one of the best finishes to a regular season baseball has ever seen. A very intense, high stake series taking place tomorrow night, the Sox and Twins will fight to end for post season play.
