Bruce Buffer is one of the most recognized faces in the UFC. One thing I never see is an interview with him.

I was watching UFC Unleashed and I thought "What does Bruce have to say?"

I got in contact with Bruce's people and luck have it, he said yes. I was blown away when he agreed so I put some questions together and the following interview went like this.

AMMA: How did you get your start in announcing?

BB: I convinced the original owner of the UFC to let me announce the preliminary fights at UFC 8 in Puerto Rico when I was there with a fighter I managed named Scott Ferrozzo, who fought in the tournament.

I fought for the job, focused on it 'til I got it and have now done every show since UFC 13 except for UFC Japan 2.

AMMA: Did you ever feel overshadowed by your brother Michael?

BB: Not at all…I’ve managed Michael’s career and been his partner for over 18 years.  He is a legendary icon in the world of sports and entertainment and we are very supportive of each other.

AMMA: Did you come up with the Buffer 180 on your own?

BB: Yes, by accident one night in the Octagon years ago.

AMMA: What has been your favorite fight ever inside of the Octagon?

BB: Too many great fights to remember. No sooner do I see a great fight, that it is only a short period of time before I see another great fight in the Octagon…The UFC has the best fighters in the world competing against each other at every event.  They guarantee excitement, which is why it is growing so fast amongst many other reasons.

AMMA: Who is your favorite fighter right now?

BB: I have many, with Randy Couture being the best role model I have ever seen both in and out of the Octagon… He is Captain America to me.

AMMA: Do you think Jon Jones will win the title this year?

BB: I think he has a great shot against Shogun Rua when he fights him for the Championship in March.

AMMA: When can we expect to see Bruce Buffer in the UFC Hall of Fame? Because you will definitely make it there in my opinion.

BB: Thank you… Should definitely not happen 'til after I retire, unless Dana wants it done before…that is if I am inducted and there are no guarantees.  It would be awesome if it ever happened and I would be smiling.

AMMA: ACCESS MMA wants to thank you for taking the time out of your schedule Bruce and we wish you the best.

BB: Thank you for the interview and especially being a fan of our great sport of MMA and the UFC.  Cheers to you!

Bruce Buffer is one of the greatest people I have ever interviewed.

It was an honor to ask him these questions and I can see him standing in the Octagon until he is old and grey announcing for the UFC.

He truly is the UFC through and through. Thanks again to Bruce Buffer and his people at Let’s Rumble for doing this interview.
