Brett Favre, Kim Kardashian and Fergie are some of the most popular trends today.
Brett Favre is rumored to be in the running for a spot on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." Did you think we heard the last of him?
No way. There'll be plenty of Favre talk even in the offseason.
Also, people still can't stop talking about Kim Kardashian and her Skechers commercial.
Was that her real booty? Or was it a body double? We'll find out in the updates.
As for Aaron Rodgers, he continues to live the dream of making one Super Bowl related public appearance after another.
Those top trends and more sports related topics will be touched on in today's B/R Swagger Buzz.
Carrington High Wrestling Team from North Dakota failed to win their fourth straight title in the Region 2 dual high school wrestling tournament when the didn't show up for the competition.
Apparently, a raccoon stopped them from making it to the tournament.
“We (school administrators) found out as the tournament was going on that while our students were on the way to the event, they were exposed to a raccoon,’’ Carrington school superintendent Brian Duchscherer told the Grand Forks Herald.
“Once we found that out, we didn’t know if there was the potential of spreading anything, if the raccoon had rabies or not, so we decided to bring our kids home.’’
With the kids apparently unaware that a raccoon that was found inside the team bus was alive, some reportedly tried to handle the animal. Although it was unclear whether or not someone was bitten, the school decided to err on the side of safety and bring back the squad to make sure they weren't exposed to a disease such as rabies.
That's a bummer to make it all the way to the championship for a fourth consecutive season and to have your title bid end because of something that happens outside the gym.
Call this a big fortunate win for North Border-Cavalier High School who won the championship by forfeit.
But it may not be too late for school officials to reconsider and at least give Carrington a chance to defend their crown.
Phil Hellmuth Tweets About Taking Dance Lessons
Phil Hellmuth, an 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder, has been rumored to be a possible castmember of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" since last January.
But during the Super Bowl weekend Hellmuth tweeted (@phil_hellmuth): "I Took dancing lessons for a week ("1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2"); Thought I was going to be on "Dancing With The Stars!" I had a few skilz!"
Does that mean he's in or he's out?
I guess we're going to have to wait until the end of February when the show announces their new castmembers.
The show has done plenty of athletes, actors and reality stars in the past. But Hellmuth is the first poker player that may seriously be chosen.
He may be able to do some magical things on the poker table, however, we're not really that optimistic about his chances on the dance floor.
One thing's for sure, he may be entertaining to watch if he does make an appearance. Watching him learning some tough dance moves with that "Poker Brat" personality could generate a lot of laughs.
Green Bay Packers Getting Special Treatment From WWE
The Green Bay Packers are reportedly set to show up as special guests at a WWE event in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Tuesday night, where TMZ reports they will be treated like VIPs.
According to TMZ: "...wrestling honchos were so excited to see Aaron Rodgers and company hoisting a WWE championship belt after they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, they reached out to see if the team would like to sit ringside at Smackdown tonight."
Apparently a big group of Packers are "FIRED" up over the thought of making to the WWE Smackdown event and will definitely be there.
One guy that many will be looking for tonight is Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers, who is known for a trademark championship belt move everytime he makes big plays on offense.
Rodgers' imaginary championship belt became a reality after linebacker Clay Matthews delivered one to Rodgers just moments after winning the Super Bowl trophy.
Although Rodgers isn't likely to jump in the ring against another wrestler, he and the rest of the Packers are likely to give the WWE fans in Green Bay an added thrill.
Aaron Rodgers Reveals Team Secrets During Late Show Appearance
Aaron Rodgers continues on his trek all over the nation to celebrate winning Super Bowl XLV and the game's MVP award.
Yesterday he was at Disney World during the day and by night time he was making an appearance in New York City for the "Late Show with David Letterman."
Rodgers sounded like a nervous fan early in the show telling Dave, "I watch your show a lot," with a big silly grin on his face.
What else did he do?
The 27-year-old quarterback gave the audience a laugh with this little bit of information about his head coach: "Mike likes to repeat some plays at times, especially if they work."
Great insight there. But that wasn't all.
Rodgers told Letterman that some of his teammates still have problems remembering some of the 60 or so plays they had prepared for the Super Bowl.
Yikes he just poked fun at his coach and his teammates. Who does he think he is? The Super Bowl MVP or something?
It was all in good fun so let's give the guy a break, he showed nerves of steel during the Packers' win. But doing "The Late Show" is a much different story.
Maybe he was just nervous and started babbling.
You're a Super Bowl winner Aaron. Soak in all of the fun as much as possible. Your coach and teammates will forgive you.
Cameron Diaz And Alex Rodriguez Super Bowl Moment Makes Yankees Slugger Angry
Alex Rodriguez was reportedly not pleased after he discovered that a cute happy couple moment between him and girlfriend Cameron Diaz was captured by video cameras and displayed before a worldwide audience during Super Bowl XLV.
Joe Buck said on air: "I'm sure Alex is thrilled we put him on camera at that moment, being fed popcorn."
And he was right.
“[A-Rod] really went ballistic — thinking the cameraman was out to get them in a paparazzi-like shot. … That’s so crazy,” a source told Bill Swecker of the Chicago Sun Times. “Anyone who knows anything about producing a live sports event — especially something as huge as the Super Bowl — would know that those celebrity shots are purely random...A-Rod, of all people, should know that.”
That's what happens when you have a big ego and a me-first attitude. You think the whole world revolves around you.
Leave it to A-Rod to believe that a Super Bowl cameraman has a personal vendetta against him.
He should have been happy he got some air time during a big event such as the Super Bowl. Many companies pay upwards of $3 million for a 30 second spot during the big game.
All he had to do to get airtime was chew on some popcorn.
If he wanted to be depicted in a different light, he should have coughed up some of that record $275 million salary he signed with the Yankees.
Carmelo Anthony To Lakers Trade May Make Wife LaLa Happy
Carmelo Anthony and television personality LaLa Vasquez, both native New Yorkers, have made no secret of their desire to ultimately end up in their home state once Anthony hits the free agent market at the end of the season.
So far this season, the lowly New Jersey Nets have hit numerous snags in trying to obtain the All-Star small forward via trade. The common sentiment among media members is that 'Melo was hesitant in signing a long-term extension with the team.
As much as Carmelo wants to be close to home, he also cares about winninSigning off on a trade to the Nets could essentially put him in a similar position that he's in with Denver.
Moreover, by going to the East, Anthony could potentially have a much tougher time going up against other Eastern Conference powerhouses such as the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, and the New York Knicks.
As bad as the Lakers have played this season, they're still the second best team out of the Western Conference and a possible trade for Anthony could help shake things up for a team desperately looking for a spark.
Should the Lakers move forward with an Anthony for Andrew Bynum trade, Carmelo is instantly placed in a winning situation.
Anthony won't need to pine for a pairing with CP3 and Amar'e Stoudamire in New York when he'll be playing alongside Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.
No. The Lakers aren't the Knicks, they're even better.
This could be a win-win for all parties involved including wife LaLa. Rumor has it that LaLa is the one that's most uncomfortable with their situation in Denver.
In Los Angeles, LaLa can keep on working on her career as a television host and Anthony can become a part of a winning franchise.
To make this possible trade even more appealing, TMZ reports that the happy couple actually have a home in Los Angeles, which they bought a year ago.
To recap: they have a home here, LaLa can mingle with Hollywood's elite and Melo can play for a championship and get his extension.
What's there not to like?
They may even get another reality show out of it.
Kim Kardashian Gets No Love From Prince
Kim Kardashian started off the New Year singing on stage and performing in front of a big crown in TAO Las Vegas.
On Monday, when she was pulled on stage by Prince during a concert she appeared to be too scared to do anything.
Not even to shake her world-famous booty.
The reality star and serial athlete dater couldn't shake off the nerves and get her dance on. The lack of movement from Kim's derriere prompted Prince to yell: "Get off the stage!"
Come on Kim K, that was not the right time to play the shy card.
For someone that's been featured in a sex tape, has her on reality show and gets followed around by a ton of paparazzi everywhere, Kim K looked like a deer lost in headlights on stage.
Here's an explanation from Kim K via Twitter: "OMG Prince just pulled me up on stage!!! I'm shaking!!!! I was so nervous I froze when Prince touched me!!!!"
Apparently she redeemed herself later in the concert and rocked out on stage again.
Only Kim K gets a second chance from Prince, ordinary people wouldn't have been so lucky.
Tony Hawk To Divorce Third Wife Because Of Affair Allegations
A day after Tony Hawk announced that he planned on getting a divorce from his wife, Lhotse Merriam, there are new rumors that may shed some light on the end of his marriage.
"We have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," Hawk and Merriam told UsMagazine.com in a joint statement. "We remain deeply committed and loving parents to our daughter, and out of respect for that responsibility we ask that people honor our family's privacy during this important time of transition. Thank you for your understanding."
Hawk, who has been married two other times, isn't exactly the role model husband. He may be a skating icon but he's far from a star when it comes to marriage.
According to What Would Tyler Durden Do (wwtdd.com): "[Hawk] first got married in 1990, then divorced her to marry the nanny, then divorced the nanny to marry his publicist. Well now he’s divorcing the publicist, and he’s doing that, according to a source, because he’s having yet another affair. This time with a woman who is also married, to someone named Matt Goodman."
Wait, it gets better. Duden is reporting that Goodman is a very close friend of Hawk's, described as "lifelong friends and business partners." So close that even their kids are close to each other, per Durden.
If all is true then Tony Hawk takes the early Scumbag Husband of the Year Award. Tony Parker will be sending it in the mail soon.
Brett Favre is back in the headlines.
Leave it to the 41-year-old newly retired NFL legend to steal some attention after his former team the Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl.
There's no word of more Jenn Sterger drama or another potential comeback. This time around, Favre could be hitting your television screen as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."
Former DWTS contestant Kurt Warner planted the seed in an interview. "Let me think on what old retired NFL guy should join the show," Warner told Rob Shuter of popeater.com. "Brett Favre. That's a good idea. Plus controversy is good for ratings."
Warner could be on the right track with his endorsement of Favre but the powers that be are apparently iffy on bringing in the 20-year NFL veteran.
"No way would 'Dancing' want any part of Brett," an insider told Shuter. "They love having colorful people in the cast but you have to remember this is a family show and not the right fit for someone who has been accused of e-mailing private photos of himself to young ladies."
Favre hasn't been convicted of anything, and even the NFL couldn't gather enough information to suspend him during the season.
All we have is a bunch of allegations.
If they want ratings, Favre is an excellent choice.
He's got the name, and the footwork.
