I apologize for the language in this video, it's being used to get a point across.
After the UFC failed in signing Fedor, White went on to say "I don't think Fedor is a top-five heavyweight in the world, and I'm not saying that because I didn't get Fedor. I've always felt that way about Fedor and I always felt Randy Couture would beat Fedor … Fedor is a farce". Now am I the only one that thinks this is absurdly childish? Dana White has a lot of power and wields a big stick, but he doesn't always use objective conscience.Or how about the UFC's most popular (and arguably best) fighter leaving the organization citing the belief that Dana White was taking advantage of him? White responded by calling Couture's agent a "scumbag" and saying that he had "bitch slapped" him.
And what is with White giving his favorite, or the more exciting fighters title shots? I'll give you a quick example from the Light Heavyweight division, but this is happening in every weight class. Keith Jardine has wins in his last three fights over Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell (Former LHW Champ), but it is Forrest Griffin getting the title shot against Quinton "Rampage"Jackson at The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale.
Dana White picks the fights that he wants, and not the fights that the fighters deserve.

There would be no MMA or UFC if it wasn't for Dana White, stop being a hater.

Dana White worries me. I fear that his greed, his ego trippin, his greed, his minipulation of the facts, his greed, his sensationalism, his greed, abuse of power, mis treatment of fighters, his greed, will harm the reputation and the quality of our new and already beloved sport.
RAISE THE PURSES DANA!!!!! We want to see fedor vs cotour ............ Now ! And dont insult everybodies intellegence by saying that Fedor sucks. And while you are at it Dana, why dont you conduct yourself as a proper representative of a legitemate credible sport that all the fans can be proud of. I dont want to have explain all the bleeped out words on the Ultimate fighter to my eight year old. Dana White you are a huge disapointment to many MMA fans, and a black eye on MMA's credibility. Wake UP ! And oh yea, stop being so greedy

Dana is a fan and he does let that override his decision making sometimes, but he is still responsible for putting UFC on the map and you have to respect that. I don't like the way he has handled the Fedor/Couture situation or the way Tim Sylvia has kissed his butt throughout, but he is still putting together a great product that I love watching. I think of him as a Mark Cuban type.
And as far as Forrest goes, he's earned this shot. Plus Griffin and Rampage will be incredible as far as coaches for the show and that played a factor. Jardine is solid, but Griffin/Rampage makes sense, you can't deny that.

But how can you give Griffin a title shot, after Jardine just beat him?
from 4 months ago
i am agree with "matt". forrest is not in a position to coach or to have a title shot. jardine beat liddell, so that would give jardine the title shot. as for dana, do you honestly think that you guys could do any better, I couldn't. He MUST treat this as a business just like any business person. i wouldnt say that i like him, but he is doing exactly what it takes to keep UFC, and MMA for that matter, in the spotlight. thats called a necessary evil.

What a laughable article. I wish this bleacher report crap would stop showing up on google news, because I haven't read anything here with an ounce of worth.
Hey guys, remember Jardine losing in 48 seconds in May to a nobody? There are no perfect #1 contenders right now.

Remember Griffin losing to Jardine? Remember Jardine beating Liddell? Forget May, this was recent.

I love the UFC. The UFC has made MMA a contending sport in cntemporary soceity and that is not by accident. No sometimes things don't always seem fair but then I guess sometimes most sports don't play by the rules. No one can argue that the UFC is here to make money and Dana has done a great job of that. People have to get stepped on that is just the way it is

first of all, joe silva pairs fighters together, not dana.
Is it professional of him to call people scumbag, etc...? No, but this isn't your traditional corporate company. Dana is the talking head, he's a salesman, he's the main promoter. You're talking about his comments aren't you? That's precisely his point. He wants people talking. He wants to portray this tough, brash image for the 20 somethings out there like myself who think its cute and he wants to show the rest of the MMA organizations who the big bully is. I think he's doing a great job.
As for griffin ... it makes business sense for griffin to fight rampage. Griffin is probably one of the top 3 fan favorites in the UFC all-time (other than liddell and couture). I don't agree with it though. I think Lyoto Machida should have gotten the shot, but i believe they want to set up a rampage/liddell rematch after both are victorious, which would be a big draw as well.

It's a business. The fights that make MONEY will get preference most of the time. They do the best they can to build up fighters who are talented so that they can draw money when they get into contention, but sometimes a more exciting fighter can get the nod over a more talented (on paper) fighter. Jardine is kind of getting the shaft as far as the ORDER the contenders are getting their shots, but Griffin beating Shogun earns him a shot, no question.
