Carmelo Anthony: Lakers Reject Deal for Carmelo Anthony in Favor of Andrew Bynum
Carmelo Anthony Deal That Would Send Him to Lakers Rejected By Jerry Buss' Son.
Apparently, despite Los Angeles star Kobe Bryant and coach Phil Jackson being all for bringing Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony to L.A., Lakers owner Jerry Buss' son turned down the deal due to his favoritism over center Andrew Bynum.
First of all, aren't you the actual owner, Jerry? Are you honestly letting Anthony slip away because your son, Jim, has "strong ties" to Bynum?
Jim Buss is indeed the Lakers' VP of player personnel, but you've got to cut your "ties" at some point.
Jim Buss has also rejected a deal in the past that would have sent former New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd to L.A., despite Bryant's urging.
At some point, Jerry Buss has to take over because this is getting out of hand. And I'm not even a Lakers fan.
But not bringing Anthony to L.A. in favor of Bynum is preposterous on a large scale, maybe even an historic scale.
Reportedly it's unlikely the Nuggets would trade Anthony to the Lakers if the deal did not include Bynum.
For the record, Anthony is averaging 24.6 points and 7.8 rebounds this season with the Nuggets.
He hasn't lost anything at the ripe age of 26, folks.
