Fernando Torres cost Liverpool £23 million with the exchange of Luis Garcia. Was it worth it? That is a big yes! Torres proved himself in his debut season after scoring 34 goals and proving that he did deserve to wear the number nine shirt which once belonged to the God himself, Robbie Fowler.

However, this season Torres has only scored on goal which was in week one at Sunderland. The big question is: can Liverpool cope without him? I believe that they can.

After all they beat their biggest rivals, Manchester United, without him even though he was exceptionally fit. The performance against United showed fans and critics that Liverpool do not rely completely on Fernando Torres.

They have other great players such as Dirk Kuyt who gives 110% in each game, and the new Kop hero Ryan Babel who scored the winning goal.

Although Liverpool showed that they can cope without their star striker, sometimes you have to wonder if the match against United could have had a better result if Torres was playing. Even if it's only for the final ten minutes, Torres can make an impact.

Liverpool's season so far is going really well, with the only hiccup being that they didn't score against Stoke City. So far, there have been games where the whole team has shown that they can cope without Torres.

However, there are other games which showed that Torres is a key element into winning, even if he doesn't score. He creates opportunities which honestly have to be finished.

Fernando Torres, Liverpool's No.9, has shown to be a great player who both the fans and the team love. Even though he has only struck once this season, the fans are patient with him, knowing that once he starts scoring he is not going to stop.

So, I believe that Liverpool can cope without Torres, but only in some games. Other games they need El Nino to work his magic.
