Vince Lombardi Loved to Win More than Anything, He Would Be Pleased

Any storied franchise has their fair share of ghosts from seasons past. For the Green Bay Packers there is just one that reigns above all else. That man who would coach through black-rimmed glasses and under a classy fedora was Vince Lombardi.

The man was a genius of the gridiron. He turned a lackluster franchise into the epitome of success. His speeches were legendary. His players were part students studying the game under a master. The other part of him was played by a demanding father.

There was no love unless his players gave it their all. They trained harder than anyone and proved that the best team does not have the best talent, they just play that way.

Super Bowl XLV winners, the Green Bay Packers, are old school that way. They came into the season with a great many question marks. They narrowly made it into the postseason. Yet, here they are. No amount of questions could deter their drive.

They won it all because they played a better brand of football. At some point, it just clicked. That is what life was like during the Lombardi era. The Packers were lifeless before Vince took over. Then like a flash, they were relevant.

Such has been the miracle season of the 2010 Green Bay Packers. They would have the old man beaming right about now.
