Eminem: Does Rapper Sell Out in Super Bowl Commercial?
Eminem Poses For Lipton Brisk Iced Tea in Super Bowl Ad.
Rapper Eminem made a rare appearance on a commercial during the Super Bowl adfest on Sunday, albeit in an animated form.
While his animated figure sipped Lipton iced tea, he laid out a list of demands that had to be in the ad for him to take part in it: he needs some "hot chicks," they film at his house so he doesn't have to "go anywhere," and he records his own song.
It ends predictably by him pushing a Lipton iced tea executive off a tower because they won't change the name of the drink to "Eminem."
He finishes by saying, "See?! That's why I don't do commercials."
But he did do one.
So, whether it was masked or not, Eminem did sell out in a way to the company.
It was probably all fun and games to him, but if he's really going to try to convince people that he doesn't sell out, why be in a commercial where he actually does?
Seems a bit perplexing to me.
And I don't really have a problem with celebrities or artists selling out to a Super Bowl ad. I mean, I would probably do the same thing. Hey, it's free dough.
But don't say you "don't do commercials" when you clearly do.
