Green Bay Packers Defeat Pittsburgh Steelers In Super Bowl XLV, 31-25, For First Super Bowl Title Since 1997.

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-25, in Super Bowl XLV Sunday, winning the championship for the first time since 1997, when they defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI, 35-21.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Super Bowl MVP, threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns in his first Super Bowl ever, leading the Packers against a Steelers team that gave up just 14.5 points per game in the regular season.

Rodgers and the Packers also faced off against a Steelers team that was in its third Super Bowl in six years, winning in its last two appearances.

Packers receivers Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings had big games for the Packers, with Nelson catching nine balls for 140 yards and a touchdown and Jennings catching two touchdown passes.

Rodgers won a brand new Chevy Camaro for his MVP award.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, with two Super Bowl rings to his name, passed for 263 yards, two touchdowns, and two interception in Super Bowl XLV.

Steelers receiver Mike Wallace had nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort.

Packers safety Nick Collins had a huge play in the first quarter, intercepting Roethlisberger for a 37-yard touchdown to put the Packers up, 14-0.

Fox broadcaster Joe Buck had a great quote after the Packers won, saying, "The Lombardi Trophy is coming home."
