Carmelo Anthony Deal Almost a Slam Dunk: Next, a Big Man for The New York Knicks

Finally, it appears that Carmelo Anthony will be a New York Knick sometime during this week.

ESPN's Chris Broussard has gotten reports from a few sources around the league that the Knicks, Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves have been in serious talks about a three-team deal that would send Carmelo to the Knicks.

    Let's just say...it's about time.

The deal would include Anthony going to the Knicks, Wilson Chandler, Corey Brewer and the Timberwolves first-round pick to Denver and Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry going to Minnesota.

After Melo comes to New York, what's next for the Knicks?  My opinion is that they should go for a solid center which they really need.  Amar'e Stoudamire has been playing center for the Knicks all year and has done a great job, but his primary position is at power forward.  If the Knicks acquire a good center by the deadline, Amar'e would move back to the 4 and the Knicks would have a scary lineup.  I will break down a few big name centers that the Knicks could acquire by February 24th.

DeAndre Jordan: Los Angeles Clippers

DeAndre Jordan has really emerged as a great player for the Clippers this year.  The only question is would the Clippers be willing to give him up?  It's questionable because maybe the Clippers would want to rebuild with Jordan and Blake Griffin on the same team.  They're both young and have a lot of talent.  However, Jordan is set to be a free agent after this year.  He would be great for the Knicks.

    Proposed deal:

    DeAndre Jordan to the Knicks

Tomofey Mozgov and Kelenna Azubuike to the Clippers

    Potential Knicks line up:

    PG: Raymond Felton

    SG: Danilo Gallinari/Carmelo Anthony

    SF: Carmelo Anthony/Danilo Gallinari

    PF: Amar'e Stoudamire

    C: DeAndre Jordan

Chris Kaman: Los Angeles Clippers

Chris Kaman is also a member of the Los Angeles Clippers and is the guy who is most likely going to be moved from that team at the deadline.  Kaman was an all-star last year and has a tremendous amount of talent.  He can score and play very good defense.  Look for the Knicks to make a run at Kaman.

    Proposed deal:

Timofey Mozgov and Roger Mason to the Clippers

    Chris Kaman to the Knicks

    Potential Knicks line up:

    PG: Raymond Felton

    SG: Danilo Gallinari/Carmelo Anthony

    SF: Carmelo Anthony/Danilo Gallinari

    PF: Amar'e Stoudamire

    C: Chris Kaman

Javale McGee: Washington Wizards

Javale McGee has proven this year that he has a lot of talent and could be a great player in this league.  He's good both offensively and defensively and can provide a spark to the Knicks' lineup.  He has been included in trade rumors this year.

    Proposed deal:

Javale McGee and Al Thornton to the Knicks

Timofey Mozgov, Toney Douglas, and a second-round pick from the Knicks to the Wizards

Tyson Chandler: Dallas Mavericks

It's hard to believe the Mavericks would give up Tyson Chandler due to the great year that he is having.  However, if the Knicks come up with a good offer, you never know.  Chandler is one of the most respected guys in the NBA and is a great teammate.  More importantly, he's a great player both offensively and defensively.  If the Knicks somehow acquire Chandler along with Melo, that lineup would be one of the top lineups in the Eastern Conference.

    Proposed deal:

Timofey Mozgov, Kelenna Azubuike, Knicks second-round pick to the Mavericks

    Tyson Chandler to the Knicks

Robin Lopez: Pheonix Suns

Robin Lopez has a lot of potential and can be a great player in this league.  He plays good defense and can really help the Knicks down the stretch of the season.

    Proposed deal:

Kelenna Azubuike and the Knicks second-round pick to the Suns

    Robin Lopez to the Knicks

Marc Gasol: Memphis Grizzlies

Marc Gasol has shown he can be a great player in the NBA.  He has improved a lot since last year and would be a great fit for the Knicks.  He is averaging 11.9 points and seven rebounds per game.  Gasol has been linked to many trade rumors this year, and some of the trade rumors have involved the New York Knicks.  Look for the Knicks to make a run at Gasol.

    Proposed deal:

Timofey Mozgov, Toney Douglas, and the Knicks second-round pick to the Grizzlies

Marc Gasol and $2 million to the Knicks
