What a comeback.
Not the Mavs. But that was good too. It was the Kidd's comeback I am talking about.
Jason Kidd had just appeared to have lost the game for the Mavs with a bad pass to Dirk Nowitzki in the corner that was intercepted. The black crepe paper was about to be hung. No road win tonight for Dallas. They had already blown a lead and appeared to be down and out.
It looked even worse for the Mavs when the ball was fumbled in the paint with about five seconds left, but Dirk Nowitzki redeemed Kidd's bad pass on the previous series with a quick flip to Kidd at the top of the left arc.
Uncovered after Ray Allen flew past Kidd's fake, Kidd slid behind the arc and took that slight hesitation that told you he was sizing up the shot like the Terminator's computer going through the sequence of options. He drained it. Dallas 99, Celtics 97 with 2.5 seconds left.
Although the Celtics' Rajon Rondo tried to get it to Garnett for an ally-oop, Garnett was not 14 feet tall and the Rondo pass into the crowd essentially ended the contest.
Kidd said after the game, "I got lucky and it went in."
As the Terminator said to the truck driver as he hijacked the truck...
