After 41 matchups the Detroit Red Wings are at the top of their game with a total of 30 wins, eight losses, and three overtime/shootout losses.

The are ranked top three in powerplay, penalty kill, goals for, goals against, faceoff percentage, shots per game, and shots against per game. Their only flaw this season is their sub-.500 record against Central Division opponents.

Over that last few games they have been without the help of their leading point-getter Henrik Zetterberg, and 17 goal scorer Tomas Holmstrom.

Second year players Valtterri Filppula and Jiri Hudler have played a prodominant roll in keeping the Red Wings at their furious pace. Filppula got his first multi-point game against the Blues Dec. 26 in a 5-0 win. Hudler helped out with a goal and an assist as well. They have also benefited from the stellar goaltending of both Domink Hasek and Chris Osgood. Osgood leads the league this season in goals against and save percentage.

If the Red Wings keep up the pace they are at they will set a franchise record for points in a season with 126.
