On January 28, 2011, Markhaile “Showtying” Wedderburn stepped into the cage against Mark “Boots” Holst. The fight was going great for both guys. Boots was throwing nice combinations and also a few head kicks. The fight came to a stop when Boots threw on a Rear Naked Choke.

Showtying was mad at the win because he said he had lost his mouth guard and asked the referee in charge to allow him to put it back in. My seats at the fight did not allow me to see exactly what had transpired, but Showtying spoke with ACCESS MMA to tell us his side of the story.

AMMA: So you fought Mark Holst at Wreck MMA: Strong and Proud, lost by Rear Naked Choke, but, you said your mouth guard was on the floor and you were reaching for it. Can you tell me what was going on at that moment?

MSW: Ok it was like this: The fight was going good and just like my plan, ride it out until the third then go for the kill. Anyhow, Holst kicked me then I took him down. 

When we were on the ground he had punched me and my mouth piece fell out. I was telling the ref my mouth piece, my mouth piece, at the same time I’m reaching to get it to put back in my mouth. When my hand was reaching for it so was the refs he got to it first and swiped across the cage floor.

While this is happening, Holst was punching me and because my hand was out, he sunk in the choke. Like I wasn’t lookin’ for help I just wanted my mouthpiece. The ref could have let me put it in my mouth then continue the action from where we were.

AMMA: Has your camp or anyone involved with Xtreme Couture tried to have the decision overturned as a result of the referee declining to give you your mouth guard? I understand where you are coming from saying you guys could restart from the same position.

MSW: No we made no contact to anyone, cause on the real, mma Canada is fucking bias. When it comes to Showtying they want to see me fail, so no one wants to be fair when it comes to me. But, if it was the other way [around], people would be all over it wanting a rematch because it was not fair. I got no help out here only my family like real blood line family, it’s so fucking shitty. But I’ll never stop, even if it kills me, and I won’t change for these busters. I’ll still call out fighters and tell the best to fuck off and fight me. But I really want my rematch with Holst. Plus, he held the choke for four seconds after the bell.

AMMA: What do you think your chances of a rematch are right now since Holst has announced his retirement? Do you think you could be the one to pull him out?

MSW: Well, that’s a funny thing cause before my fight, he said he was going to retire. Then as soon as we fight, he said he wants to fight Nabil. Like what the fuck is that. I want to fight him and I will risk my freedom to do so.

AMMA: If Holst declines would you be up for fighting another member from the OAMA team or would you rather wait it out for him?

MSW: I want to take them all out, if he and when he says no.  Cause he got no fucking honor or balls man.

AMMA: On a side note, you mentioned in several interviews you were coughing blood in the sauna, how have you been feeling as of late do you feel up to par with your health?

MSW: Everything good now; I just want all the help I can get for my rematch, brother. This making up rules as we go sucks, man.

AMMA: Well I enjoyed both of you guys during that fight and I personally would love to see a rematch. If the rematch does happen, will you take the time necessary to cut the weight properly so you feel close to 100 percent for the fight?

MSW: HELL YA BRO I WAS FELLING REALLY GOOD BRO REALLY. FUCKING I WAS TWO POUNDS OFF AND I KNOW HOW TO FIX THAT BROTHER. THIS WILL SEE IF WRECK MMA HAS ANY HONOR.

AMMA: Any last things you want to say before we sum this up?

MSW: WRECK MMA Y’ALL ARE AND WAS ALWAYS GOOD TO ME. SO I BEG OF YALL TO KEEP THE RESPECT Y’ALL PREACH BEING FAIR AND RESPECT FULL IN MMA. THIS IS Y’ALL TIME TO REALLY BACK UP IT UP BY DOING WHATS RIGHT. PLEASE WATCH THE TAPE AND YOU WILL SEE THIS IS A SURE CASE FOR A REMATCH; ASAP NEXT SHOW. SUFFARZ STAND UP.

Showtying has stated his case. Now as fans, we have to wait and here for a response from Boots. Only time will tell if these two warriors will once again step in the cage to face one another. Will the result be the same? If Boots sticks to his word of retirement, will any of the OAMA guys step in to take on Showtying? Again, only time will tell what will happen next between these two warriors.
