Super Bowl XLV: Brett Keisel's Beard Steals the Show
Super Bowl XLV is a week away, and there are no shortages of stories on everything from Ben Roethlisberger's nose to Aaron Rodgers' head.
One topic that has not been getting its fair share of attention, however, is Brett Keisel's beard. I mean, just look at that thing. The guy bears a striking resemblance to the Abominable Snowman from Monsters, Inc. As much as anything else, his beard is to thank for the Steelers mystique this season.
The thing has its own Facebook page, and nearly 20,000 users like it. According to Adam Rank on NFL.com, it's gotten so out of control, even Keisel himself reports "I don't even remember what my face looks like."
What's so great about his beard? It reminds us of the old glory days of the NFL, when beards reigned supreme and the tough men were tough. Keisel is tough. He was voted to the Pro Bowl this year for the first time, and his play has helped the Steelers D rank 1st in the league in points and 2nd in yards. And he's one of the guys who can stop Aaron Rodgers. Long live the beard!
