The Steelers vs. Packers matchup will be a costly one for fans attending Sunday's game.

Reuters reports that the average face value for a ticket is $900, adding that hotel rooms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are twice the normal weekend prices. Car rentals are three times higher, and airline fares are up too. Parking spots at Cowboys Stadium are also at $1,000 now apparently.

The changes were a topic of conversation Saturday night when I went to dinner. Having lived in north Texas now for 12 years, I'm used to the traffic and chaos for an OU-Texas weekend at the Cotton Bowl, and know not to venture near Cowboys Stadium on game days.

I did get a taste of what Sunday could be like last month when I drove over to the Cotton Bowl for the LSU-Texas A&M game. I got there over two hours early, and the streets were clogged. My immediate thought was, "Oh man, if it's this bad for a bowl game, what's going to happen come Super Bowl Sunday?"

Then I had to remember the game's priced itself out with normal fans, and now markets itself mostly to corporations and upper class who can throw around that kind of money. Both groups certainly should enjoy the Metroplex, because there's countless ways to do that.

I'll be interested to hear how ridiculous it actually gets. A buddy told me Saturday night that some restaurants were going to need reservations hours in advance. I also read how some homeowners near the stadium have talked to the city and pursued ways to be able to make money from people who want to park in their neighborhoods and driveways.

Good for them. If they're going to be stuck at home, might as well benefit.
