North Carolina-Virginia Tech: A Game with a Heavyweight Fight Atmosphere

Zach RiceContributor ISeptember 18, 2008

Its a game big as a heavyweight bout Saturday.

In the blue corner, under former NFL head coach Butch Davis, The University of North Carolina Tar Heels. The Tar Heels come off a beatdown of a soft Rutgers ball club.

UNC is a strong young ball club and can only get better form here.

Standing in the maroon corner under former Bear Bryant Award-winning coach Frank Beamer, The Virginia Tech Hokies. The Hokies come off a barnburner in Blacksburg, beating a Ga Tech team still learning a new offense 20-17.

Both teams have struggled with teams they should have destroyed and have came up big in big games. But here we are in Week 4, and we have a game that is gonna shake up the coastal division for the season probably.

Tech needs to shut down the passing attack and find a way to move the ball better then they have all season to escape Chapel Hill undefeated in the conference and make a possible trip to Tampa for the ACC title game. It's early, I know, but if we can win here its looking good for the rest of the season.

The Tar Heels must shut down Tech's run game, make Tech throw the ball, and until someone can prove me wrong, attack Tech across the middle to beat them. My prediction is that Virginia Tech finds a way to pull out another close one, 21-17.
