University of Hawaii Men's Volleyball Splits Doubleheader with UC-San Diego
The University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team split the double-header match with UC San Diego this weekend by closing out the fourth game of the contest to win three sets to one. On Friday it was the same place where, instead of finishing off their opponent, they allowed the Tritons to steal the game and win the tiebreaker game.
As an improvement over last night, Hawaii opened up a two-game lead 25-21 and 25-20, before dropping Game 3 20-25, then closing out the match in Game 4, 25-20.
The Warriors better their record to 2-5 overall, and 2-2 in the MPSF.
Jonas Uhmlauft had another well played contest with 24 kills and a .395 hitting average, his fifth 20-kill match in a row. Joshua Walker added 13 kills and hit .458 with 13 kills while Brennon Dyer and Jarrod Lofu worked together to produce 11 kills and .475 hitting average.
UCSD now falls to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference were led by 14 kills from Carl Ebert and four players in double figures.
The Warriors host a doubleheader of matches with conference rival UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 4.
