Liverpool have announced that they have turned down an official approach from Chelsea for Fernando Torres which valued the player at £35m.

Liverpool have said they have no intention of letting Torres leave and that further bids are not welcomed.

This bid comes on the back of Chelsea's attempts to sign Luiz from Benfica for £25m and a reported double bid of £52m for two Athletico Madrid players.

Has Roman Abramovich decided to spend now, ahead of the FFPR or are these just examples of a club trying to appear to spend money?
