The owner of the Ottawa Senators, Eugene Melynk, said he recalled memories of an early childhood watching the Toronto Ukrainians compete in the old National Soccer League.

But now the Canadian billionaire has a drive to bring the MLS to Ottawa, Ontario just in time for the 2011 season.  With the 14 team league already set to expand by two (Seattle Sounders FC will begin its inaugural season in 2009 and an unnamed Philadelphia franchise in 2010), the league intends to add two more teams after that.

The other cities in the running for the two spots are Montreal, Portland, Vancouver, Atlanta, St-Louis, Las Vegas, and a second New York based franchise. The bidding deadline is set for October 15th 2008.
