One could hear a pin drop in jampacked Allen Field House on Saturday...the death of Kansas forward Thomas Robinson's mother from an apparent heart attack Friday, January 21, shocks and saddens the Robinson Family and Jayhawk Nation adding to the deaths of two of Robinson's grandparents in the last month.

With personal tragedy as an insurmountable backdrop to hosting the talented Texas Longhorns, the Jayhawks' 69 game home-court winning streak came to a halt as UT rallied from a 12 point halftime deficit to win 74 - 63.

Texas' suffocating zone trap shut down the Kansas offense (27.3% second-half FG) and exposed the Jayhawks' vulnerability (for Saturday, anyway) to the extent that Coach Bill Self and his team will likely see some variation of the zone trap from every opponent from this point going forward this season.  UT established itself as a bonafide national title contender, albeit in the third week of January.

UT outrebounded KU 42 - 33.

Kansas scoring:  Tyrel Reed  17 points; Marcus Morris  16 points; Markieff Morris  10 Points; Brady Morningstar  eight points; Tyshawn Taylor  four points; Josh Selby  four points; Thomas Robinson  two points; Mario Little  two points

Texas scoring:  J'Covan Brown  23 points; Jordan Hamilton  17 points; Tristan Thompson  12 points; Cory Joseph  11 points; Gary Johnson  six points; Dogus Balbay  five points

Rebounds:  Kansas  33; Texas 42
