The NFL is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Last night, on MNF, ESPN played a clip of a Spanish announcer.
Tony Kornheiser said, “I took high school Spanish, either he said he’s not going to be caught, or please pick up my dry cleaning tomorrow.”
Apparently the NFL did not approve. Later, TK came back with, “I said something before which I shouldn’t have said, I apologize for it. Not my first mistake, undoubtedly won’t be my last, but a 100% apology.”
I wonder if Tony Gonzalez will be a guest of five good minutes after the game?

Some are comparing his comments to those of Howard Cosell who once said 'look at that monkey run'. I do not think that is a fair comparison. I think it was a mildly humorous comment and was not even noticed by many. The apology drew more attention than the actual comment.

I think the comment was taken out of context or misunderstood. My assumption is that b/c many people of Hispanic origin work in the service industries, they are saying his comment was insensitive and demeaning to those who come to our country to improve their lives and often work in menial jobs. I don't think this was his intention at all. By "interpreting" the words of the Spanish announcer, it can be argued that be reasonably assumed this man has is of means to have his clothes dry cleaned. For anyone who watches PTI, it was typical corny Kornheiser commentary.
TK is the man. Leave him and Ed Hochuli alone. We all make "mistakes."

please George, it's Jerry Jones and John Madden. Two of the most well-known names in sports, you ought to know how to spell them... And I happened to have watched that moment and I don't see what the big deal is. It was humorous. Nothing else. People need to stop being so uptight.

I'm more offended by his hair.
I heard the comment when he said it. It was a bad joke—not tasteless, just unfunny.
Regardless, the guy is very one-dimensional in his sports "analysis" anyway.
