The Phoenix Suns will look for their fifth straight win when they visit the Washington Wizards Friday night. The game is scheduled for 7:00 ET at the Verizon Center.
Phoenix had no trouble against Washington back on Dec. 5, beating the Wizards 125-108. Our NBA spreads for tonight's game have the Wizards favored by 1-point over the Suns with the total set at 213.5.
Phoenix extended their winning streak with a 106-98 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night. Grant Hill scored a game-high 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Hill has really turned it on lately, averaging 24.3 points over this last three games and has scored 20 or more in three straight games for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
Steve Nash recorded his fourth-straight game with at least 15 points and 10 assists, as he netted 15 and dished out 15 assists. Channing Frye helped out with 18 points and Marcin Gortat added 16 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.
Phoenix won despite getting just three points from Vince Cater, as he went 1-6 from the floor. Carter scored 29 points in the Suns' previous game against New York, and they are going to need him to be a consistent offensive threat if they are going to continue winning games.
The Wizards will look to put an end to the Suns winning ways with their fifth-straight win at home. The Wizards fell to 0-20 on the road with a 100-87 loss at Milwaukee Wednesday night but have been a completely different team at home this season.
What seems to be the biggest difference for the Wizards when playing at home, is the energy and focus they bring on the defensive end of the floor. Washington is allowing just 96.4 points at home, compared to 102.4 for all games.
Andray Blatche had a team-high 23 points in the loss to Milwaukee. Nick Young added 21 points and John Wall had 10 points and 13 assists. No other player scored more than eight points for the Wizards, and that is just how things have gone on the road this season.
In the Wizards last home game, they had five different players score in double figures, and that is the balance this team needs to win on the road. Rashard Lewis had just eight points against the Bucks, and Washington needs him to be more of a consistent threat offensively.
I think the right play is on the Wizards tonight. Washington is playing extremely well at home right now, and getting them at the smallest of favorites is too good to pass up. Phoenix is the middle of their five-game road trip, and I just think they are going to struggle to match the Wizards energy.
