If the LSU Tigers beat the Ohio State Buckeyes in the BCS National Championship Game on Monday night, then the Kansas Jayhawks may win a share of the title.
Here is an argument for why there may be a SPLIT National Championship between Kansas and LSU, if the Tigers win the BCS National Championship Game on Monday night:Kansas only lost one game this season—to the 12-2 Missouri Tigers.
On the other hand, LSU lost two games this season—both to five-loss teams.
In fact, one of LSU's losses was at home, on senior day, to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Arkansas Razorbacks are a sucky team—they were crushed by the aforementioned Missouri Tigers 38-7 in the Cotton Bowl on Tuesday!

It shouldn't matter that Kansas has only one loss on their record, the BCS National Championship game is between LSU and OHIO STATE! End of story. Kansas sucks. Yeah LSU has two losses, but they are against quality teams. Kansas doesn't play a team that is worth a crap and wouldn't even come close to holding their own against any SEC team on any day no matter the circumstances! Kansas has the WORST strength of schedule in AMERICA!!! Thats right i said it 'KANSAS SUCKS'!! END OF STORY. i dont know about all yall lsu fans but i seem to recall the 2005 national championship game when usc won. auburn went undefeated that year and there wasnt even any talk about them getting a share of the national crown. its simple: the college football nation is unbiased to any SEC team. kirk herbstreit and all the ESPN analysts that say lsu couldnt hang with a big-10 or big-12 team are morons. thats why i hope lsu runs osu into the ground!!! maybe then ESPN will give the SEC some respect

Kansas doesn't suck. But they are far from deserving of a number 1 status. One win over a ranked opponent, one major loss against a ranked opponent and all the other wins were against the weaker teams in the Big 12 and no name non conference games. Their win in the Orange bowl was down to the wire until well in to the 4th quarter - that game could have gone either way.

They kneeled the ball to win the game at the 1 yd line. If they wanted to, they could've easily won by 10 to make it look better. That being said...no, I don't think they deserve a split—3 point win, 10 point win, or 77 point win.

all im sayin is kansas doesnt deserve half of the crown because they arent playing in the title game. sure they have a good record and all of that but you have to remember back to 2005 when auburn went undefeated and didnt get half of the usc crown. i mean they went UNDEFEATED and nobody even talked about giving them half. this is the same thing. usc didnt deserve it in '04 when my lsu tigers won it out right over oklahoma. Arkansas is not particularly good, no. And losing to them is ugly, yes. But LSU is being judged on the quality of their wins. The Hawaii debacle showed that you can't judge a team by number of losses alone, if that team doesn't also beat anyone of note.

Depth separates LSU from teams that got to the top and couldn't stay there. Dennis Dixon got hurt and that was the end of Oregon. Pat White was hurt in bot WVU losses. LSU won with Early Doucet being out four games. They won with Matt Flynn playing hurt. They won the SEC championship when he didn't even play. Glenn Dorsey played hurt and missed most of the SEC championship (thanks, Auburn. Nice chop block). Craig Steltz and Jacob Hester played most of the year hurt. Some of these teams lose one guy and they can't compete. And these guys get hurt playing weak schedules. Let's see Kansas or USC play physical teams like Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee. South Carolina and Mississippi State will even beat you up a little bit (that's a bowl winner that LSU beat by about 40 when LSU was 100% healthy - beat VT by 41 when they were healthy, too). LSU was deep enough to get there when people were hurt. If Pat White's all you've got (great player) things are going bad when he goes down. Do the math. LSU will be 100% healthy. Ask Frank Beamer or Sylvester Croom what that looks like!

I think the AP should go ahead and back Missouri. They have only lost to one team all year and that could be dismissed as a bad matchup. Has anyone else beat two BCS teams? I think it would be a huge statement to back a team that the BCS pushed out.

The Kansas Jayhawks lost only ONE game this season... to the 12-2 Missouri Tigers. In addition, Kansas WON their BCS Bowl Game... by beating Virginia Tech 24-21 in the Orange Bowl... to finish the season 12-1.
