NFL Trade Rumors: Will Carson Palmer be traded from the Cincinnati Bengals?
It has been reported by Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, that Carson Palmer went to Mike Brown in seek of a trade, but the Bengals owner told the eight-year quarterback out of USC that he doesn't plan on trading him anytime soon.
After yet another disappointing season, Palmer desires a change of scenery to revive his career. Although as of now Brown doesn't intend on trading Palmer, who knows what will change by the 2011 NFL Draft. Some future teams that would most likely inquire for Palmer via trade are the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins, and Minnesota Vikings.
It seems like Palmer would fit very well with the San Francisco 49ers now that Jim Harbaugh has taken over as head coach. With the lack of success that the Niners have had in recent years, Harbaugh will almost certainly want to change the most of the existing offense.
The Oakland Raiders are another solid destination for Palmer, after having some reoccurring struggles at the quarterbacks position. Although Jason Campbell is a decent QB, he has proven to be inconsistent and Palmer could be that extra change that the Raiders need to be a playoff team.
Now that it is almost a sure thing that Donovan McNabb will no longer be their starting quarterback, the Redskins will either pick up a new one in the Draft, or trade for a guy like Carson Palmer. Sure the McNabb trade didn't work out, but Palmer and Mike Shanahan seem like a pretty dominant combination.
With Favre announcing his retirement, yet again, the Vikings are another team that will definitely be searching for a new quarterback via trade, free agency, or in the 2011 NFL Draft. If they were to acquire Carson Palmer, the Vikings would automatically be a playoff-contending once again, with an already talented receiving corps and a young and improving offensive line.
Now we must wait and see how serious Mike Brown was, or if he wants to trick other team's into figuring that they won't be selecting a quarterback in the upcoming draft. With the ninth overall selection in the 2011 Draft, the Bengals have the possibility of drafting a talented young quarterback, such as, Jake Locker, Cameron Newton, Ryan Mallet, or Blaine Gabbert.
