Josh Smith has earned his reputation as one of the more athletic and energetic forwards in the league.
Smith goes somewhat unnoticed in Atlanta with Joe Johnson around, but he has made himeself known with powerful block shots that make entire buildings stand up and notice.
Because of that, we tend to forget that Josh Smith is a former slam dunk champion and though he probably didn't make dunks like this in the slam dunk contest, it would've been interesting to watch.
We've talked about his athleticism, clearly on display here. He nearly jumps from the free throw line for a monster jam—and that's not even the best part.
The best part is Smith almost boxing out and using Anthony as a catapult for a bigger jam. It doesn't show much on the live action shot, but the slow-motion replay shows how Smith actually pushes Anthony back for the jam.
I've seen many things in basketball—seeing a player rejected like a shot on a dunk wasn't one of them.
It's difficult to imagine anything toppig what we've seen from Blake Griffin this year, but this is close.
It almost makes me wish that Smith would be in the Slam Dunk Contest for All-Star Weekend. It would be a good battle watching Griffin and Smith try to one-up each other every attempt.
