Mel Kiper 2011 Mock Draft: Will Dallas Cowboys Find Secondary Help At No. 9?
To start the season, the Dallas Cowboys were projected to be postseason contenders who many many believed had a shot at playing in the Super Bowl at home.
But they didn't even come close, the Cowboys had a horrific start to the regular season under Wade Phillips. Despite having a very potent offense, the Cowboys' biggest weakness was in their pass defense.
This year, Dallas had one of the worst pass defenses in the entire league. In fact, they finished tied for last in touchdowns allowed (33 TD's) with the Houston Texans.
It's clear they need help in their secondary.
NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper agrees and expect the Cowboys to address that need in the upcoming draft.
According to Kiper, Amukamara is: "A technician with outstanding instincts, ball skills and anticipation, he immediately provides an upgrade in the Dallas secondary."
Kiper also calls the young man from Nebraska the "best pure ball-hawking corner" available in the draft.
If the Detroit Lions were hoping that Amukamara drops to them at No. 14, Kiper says they won't be that lucky, Dallas wants him at No. 9.
