Boston Red Sox

Papel-Bomb?

Alex PotterCorrespondent ISeptember 15, 2008

There is nothing to be celebrated as far as the Boston Red Sox bullpens goes. What has happened to Jonathan Papelbon? I have made a case for him to be one of the best closers in the leagues and recently he has blown it every shot he has gotten.

Another potential nightmare last night versus the Toronto Blue Jays left Sox fans on the edge of their seats.

Over the weekend the Red Sox have pulled to within one game of the upstart Rays to really taste the sugar of the A.L. East division title.

Last night, despite giving up just one run in the first inning, Jon Lester achieved win number 15 of the season and struck out nine Blue Jays. He was definitely not to blame in a fight to the end.

We need to hold on to our hats, Red Sox fans because we head into the last away series tonight in Tampa where we are 0-6 this season. Jonathan Papelbon will more than likely need to sit out tonight if he is needed and will probably be replaced by Manny Delcarmen, who has fit in nicely in the closing role.

Predictions: Red Sox take two out of three in Tampa and take division lead into last home stand before Octoberfest.
