Another Sunday has passed, and football history made. Stunning last second losses/wins, Rookie play makers, and a backup quarterback made headlines this week.
On that note here are a few things we learned:
1. Carolina is a real contender.
Jake Delhomme may not be superman, but he is a hero in Charlotte. He is doing enough to have Panther fans, and players, think they will be competing in January. After a come from behind win against a good Chicago bears team in 110 degree heat who is going to stop them? Maybe the Vikings have something to say about that next Sunday.
2. Tom who? Tom Brady.
Sure, Cassel did just enough to beat the Jets, but that doesn't prove they are a contender. My reasoning? The Jets barely beat Miami last week and, for those that need proof Miami isn't that much better than a 1-15 record, were pounded by Arizona. The offense that Cassel led will not be able to compete with a real contender this year, but on the brighter side next week Miami comes to town. The Cassel train should move on for, maybe, another week.
3. Falcons, you almost had me.
Shame on me for being one of the many who pondered the question, "Are the Falcons that good?" No, Detroit is really that bad. However this team is still better then I thought they would be, but that's still not much of a compliment.
4. Vince Young take a seat.
Whatever you have going on with your "mental state", I'm sure you will have a lot of time to think about it. The Titans played someone who could actually throw the ball this week, and the results we're immediate. Collins did well enough to lead to a decisive victory without throwing interceptions aplenty. For once the defense didn't have to win the game entirely.

5. Attention Eli and Company: Thank you for proving yourself.
I have said all along that the Superbowl was not a fluke. For some reason the national media decided to doubt you, and continue to do so in countless rankings. If you play at this level maybe, just maybe, you will get the respect you deserve.
6. NFC West Champs: Arizona?
What has happened to the Seahawks? They aren't the team ANYONE thought they would be. Hasselbeck isn't himself, maybe having no receivers is the problem? Whatever the case they need to figure it out and quick. An 0-2 start is never a good thing (Yes, sometimes I enjoy stating this obvious.) However, look towards the Superbowl Champion Giants as a role model.
7. The Dark Horse Bills.
Buffalo, for the second week in a row, knocks off a previous playoff contender. Did anyone see this coming? Wait, I did, and not just because I am a Buffalo fan. The Bills have been playing great football, led with young talent they are staring at the AFC East crown.
I would just like to say thank you, Bills, for finally giving us something to BILLieve in. But outside the Bills circle there weren't many believers, but people are starting to notice. A soft upcoming schedule leaves Buffalo in a good place to go, and I quote, 5-0. Remember—nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.
8. You have my sympathy, San Diego.
Two last second losses, an 0-2 record, bad calls, and a struggling LT. The Chargers have fought valiently the first two games of this season and are coming up empty handed. They went through this last year and still rode deep into the playoffs. However, the AFC is no longer the predictable winner/loser style of the past. Could Denver and Buffalo really be among the best in AFC?
9. Reggie Bush Round One flop?
Rushing wise I would agree he is one of the biggest first round flops of this decade. Now he is still in the prime of his career and has plenty of time to turn that around, but as a receiver he is outstanding.
10. Peyton is still Peyton.
All the doubters filled the NFL blogsphere this week and ranted about Peyton Manning and how he isn't what he proved to be. Well his commercials may make him easy to hate, his play still makes it hard for him to lose. His comeback against the Vikings just shows how good he is, and how hard it is to rattle him. The Colts are still Superbowl contenders.
