As the tennis season is beginning and the Australian Open is upon us I asked a group of friends to rate the hottest female tennis players in the draw, discounting their official rating.

Unfortunately I may not have been very clear on what was being rated so the list, as with most things when beer and men are involved may have digressed to a somewhat chauvinistic perspective.

But deadlines being what they are I present you our, uhh, predictions of the hottest players power rankings of women’s tennis at the Australian Open.

25. Kimiko Date-Krumm

This Japanese beauty’s name sounds like a delicious dessert, but Kimiko is precursor to the coming onslaught from the Far East.

Japan is starting to produce some good tennis players and in our judges opinions some beautiful tennis players.

24. Sybille Bammer

This amazing Austrian is one of two mothers in this year’s Australian Open.

A beauty and hell of a tennis player, Sybille has been able to incorporate tennis and motherhood into a beautiful package.

23. Karolina Sprem

Who can forget her epic defeat of Venus Williams at Centre Court Wimbledon?

Captured many hearts that day, with her fierce playing and composure.

22. Iveta Benesova

Beauty Iveta Benesova may not look happy here but she made our judging panel sit up and take notice.

Once a top 25 player she has slipped a little in the ratings, but with her refined looks she has been able to pick up some modeling gigs. Not a bad combo, tennis pro/model.

21. Anabel Medina Garrigues

This Spanish player is muy bonita. She has had very good results as a formidable doubles player, and is looking to do well in Oz.

She is a crafty clay court specialist who grinds to win most of her rallies. However, unlike most of her fellow Spaniards, she prefers to play on hard courts.

20. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova

This Serbian-born beauty now calls Australia her home, and I’m sure there are a good many blokes who would be proud to be her countrymen.

Mathilde Johansson is a Swedish beauty but plays for France.

Our team’s consensus is that any one of us would happily go a-waltzing Mathilde any time.

Beyond that she one heck of a tennis player and as beautiful on court as off.

13. Olivia Rogowska

Young and gorgeous, we firmly believe that she'll come back.

There’s something about incredibly fit women that is a turn-on - to watch play.

No one works harder off the court than Samantha, and this has translated well to her recent success as she is seeded fifth in the Australian Open this year.

It’s hard to take your eyes off of this Australian hottie. She is touted as having the best second serve in tennis, and with her all court game few are more fun to watch than Samantha.

9. Jelena Jankovic

Anna Chakvetadze: Anna is yet another gorgeous Russian with her movie star good looks she could play a tennis player, if she wasn't already one of the most feared players out there.

She is always dangerous player, previously ranked all the way up to World number 5, look for her to upset some higher ranked opponents, and upset our team if she goes out early.

6. Daniela Hantuchova

Daniela Hantuchova is currently rated 31, yet you can never write off the 27 year old Slovakian beauty.

Always a threat always fun to watch, and let's face it, very few players look good hitting a backhand but Daniela does everytime.

Venus Williams: One of the great beauties of tennis.

With her quiet dignity and amazing game she has been setting the standard for the women's game for many years, and hopefully many more.

It is very hard not to cheer for Venus, and we sure will be.

3. Maria Sharapova

She’s been the crowned and uncrowned queen of tennis for many years. She’s on a bit of a comeback so hopefully we can look forward to some high level screams of pleasure as she strikes the balls in this year’s Aussie Open.

But honestly what more is there to say about Maria? She is the full package; ferocious competitor, former number one, multi-slam winner, and legendary beauty...

2. Ana Ivanovic

This newest version of the Swiss Miss has already been number one in the world winner of the French and a runner up at the Australian she has dipped a little in the rating but at 23 she has only become more beautiful.

We're predicting a big year for Ana, but either way we're her biggest fans.
