Andy Brodell ran back an 81-yard punt return for the score to give Iowa a 14-point lead over Iowa State, and eventually the victory.

Shonn Greene had 120 yards for the second consecutive game, pacing Iowa's offensive attack.

Ricky Stanzi did not perform well in his first game as a starter, and the only offensive touchdown of the game came on a five-yard run by Greene.

The Iowa defense didn't allow a touchdown for the third straight game and has given up only six points this season, as the Hawks were tackled in the end zone today for a safety.

Iowa State QB Austin Arnaud had over 220 yards passing, but three missed field goals proved to be the demise of the Cyclones.  Part of the reason for the offensive stalemate was the effect of a rainstorm in Iowa City on Friday.

The Hawkeyes defense had three interceptions, and in the early going the Hawkeyes look to be the most dominating defense in the Big Ten.

The victory today improves the Hawkeyes to 3-0 overall, and they will travel to Pitt next Saturday to face the Panthers.
