Anna Benson is back in the news. Well, her husband is. New York Mets pitcher Kris Benson retired on Wednesday. The news did little to remind us of his career so much as it served as a reminder that he has a wife, and she is hot.
Now Anna is back to being the hot topic WAG at the moment. This is all for good reason. How could we forget how much joy she brings us just by how gorgeous she is? This got me thinking. What are some of the best and brightest WAGs to make a comeback.
This is the comeback WAG of the Year awards. The jury consists of me and you can thank me later.
Her WAG days date all the way back to 2006. That is when Abby and goofy looking footballer Peter Crouch became an item.
She was back in the news in 2010 as Crouch was found to be getting it on outside of their relationship. The real news story is that anyone other than Clancy found him attractive. I will be here if you need consoling Abby.
Maria Sharapova had been dating NBA player Sasha Vujacic for a while. But that was forgotten when we collectively decided to wipe that knowledge from our minds.
But in late 2010, we were given the news that the two were to be married. That sound you hear is the echo from millions slapping their foreheads. Sharapova was back in the news and a hot item on the Internet. I am sure her new popularity was from men trying to figure out what was wrong with her.
Isn't it great that Anna Benson is back in the news? Now we can look forward to more pictorial spreads and pictures like these.
If Kris Benson was any good, we could look forward to his induction in Cooperstown. If that was the case, Anna would be a Hall of Fame WAG. Never mind, she already is.
Landon Donovan and Bianca Kajlich were married in 2006. We were amazed by her stunning figure then, but sort of forgot about her until she and Landon had troubles during the World Cup. His postgame remarks about his wife propelled her to meme status, as everyone with a computer was Googling her image.
Now she is back on the market and stars in the TV hit Rules of Engagement.
We lost her in 2008 when she stopped dating Tony Romo. Well, crack open the champagne because Carrie was back in 2010.
She married hockey legend, okay marginal hockey player, Mike Fisher. I would like to congratulate Mike for making the steal of the century.
We almost lost her, sports fans. Jessica was in grave danger of leaving the sports world for good. But then came her relationship with NFL player Eric Johnson.
Now she is back to WAG status, and we welcome her with open arms. With her engagement to Johnson announced, we can breath easier that she will never leave us again. Whew.
Sara Carbonero has been dating Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas for quite sometime. But the World Cup was very good for her publicity.
In the 2010 World Cup, Carbonero was blamed for Casillas' early round poor play. The media thought she was distracting him by standing so close to the net. Well, we can all see why now. Carbonero is now an international beauty beloved by all Americans in the know.
It is easy to lose sight of the Beckhams. With David playing in a second-rate soccer league and Victoria, um, watching him play in that league, it is easy to forget how stunning she is.
Enter pregnancy. Victoria is now pregnant with a new baby. The news is still fresh as we enter 2011. It has put the couple back on the front pages of magazines.
It is a blessing that the Patriots are doing as well as they are. That means Gisele Bündchen is back to being a sports story.
I will go ahead and say the Patriots will be back in the Super Bowl. That would give Gisele all the more fame in the next few weeks. More Gisele makes for a happier America.
Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter have been dating since 2008. She has never stopped being extremely hot; it's just that 2010 has been a breakout year for her.
She is recently engaged to Jeter, leaving women across the world to exclaim, "why not me?" She was also named by Esquire as 2010's hottest woman. I agree.
