Carmelo Anthony To Nets: The Latest News on The Mega-Trade
Camelo Anthony to Nets is the hot topic of the last few days, and more revelations in the proposed deal are surfacing daily.
The newest snag in the deal involves Anthony's silence regarding his acceptance of the Nets. Anthony has given no indication that he would approve a trade to the Nets, nor has he agreed to sign an extension with them if the deal is approved.
New Jersey has indicated their extension for Melo is for three years, and $65 million. Currently, Anthony is making $17 million with the Nuggets, so the extension with the Nets would be nearly $5 million more per season.
Sources close to the situation say they can't rule out the possibility of Anthony going to the Knicks either. According to ESPN, the Knicks' Amare Stoudemire recently contacted Carmelo to let him know he would welcome a trade that would send Anthony to New York.
At this point, it almost appears as though Anthony is dragging this out to gain attention to himself and whichever team he chooses. As the days go on, the Nets are becoming increasingly impatient with Anthony, and may back out of the deal if something doesn't materialize in the next 48 hours.
