Marcus Camby Trade Rumors: Blazers Ready To Send Camby to Knicks, Bobcats?
Marcus Camby trade rumors have all but silenced, according to ESPN.
Last month there were rumors the Blazers were ready to send Camby, along with Andre Miller to the Charlotte Bobcats for D.J. Augustin and Gerald Wallace. However, soon after Camby got wind of the proposed trade, he announced he would retire if Portland didn't send him to a team he felt could contend for the playoffs.
Ken Berger of CBS Sports recently noted that the New York Knicks could be a good trade destination for Camby. The Knicks are actively shopping the market, looking for players to compliment Amare Stoudemire.
Despite the seemingly solid fit, ESPN quoted the New York Times as saying a deal is not likely:
"Plenty of teams have already inquired about Camby, but Richard Cho, Portland's general manager, is not inclined to trade him," wrote Jonathan Abrams of the New York Times. "There has been no dialogue between the Knicks and Cho concerning Camby in some time, according to an NBA executive."
One reason why Cho may be inclined to keep Camby could stem from depth concerns at center.
With Greg Oden out for the year and Joel Przybilla bouncing in and out of the lineup due to injury so far, Camby's stability as the staring center this season is an asset Cho may feel is too valuable to give up at this time.
