Liverpool Fans to March in Protest Against Owners

Karen PatelCorrespondent ISeptember 12, 2008

Today Liverpool fans are to march in protest against owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, ahead of the match against Manchester United today.

Fans are planning to meet at the Liverpool Supporters' Club in Lower Breck Road, near the ground, up to Anfield shortly before kick off.

The march will start at 11am, and thousands of supporters are expected to be in attendance.  Their long-standing hatred of the American owners has come to a head since the fallout between Hicks and Gillett last season, and their refusal to provide the money to purchase Gareth Barry during the summer.

Participants see today as the perfect opportunity to make their voices heard, due to the huge scale of Liverpool vs Manchester United and the consequent media coverage.
