There's a Derrick Rose video sweeping across the web today, after the Chicago Bulls' superstar point guard delivered one of the plays of the night Monday against the Detroit Pistons.
The Bulls led 76-72 with 10:37 remaining in the game, when Luol Deng tipped a Piston pass to Rose. The speedy point guard took off down the floor like a shot, before dishing to fellow guard Ronnie Brewer on the breakaway.
Brewer lobbed the ball back towards the basket a moment later, and Rose elevated like few NBA point guards can, catching the ball and delivering a thunderous dunk.
The third-year point guard finished the game with a team-high 29 points and seven assists, while also pulling down five rebounds and nabbing a pair of steals. Rose took over the game in the second half, scoring 11 points in the third quarter and 15 points overall in the half. He proved to be the difference in the game, as the Bulls pulled away late and emerged with a 95-82 win, their second straight, after a two-game skid.
Rose has emerged as one of the NBA's top point guards this season, and this play illustrates why. With his vision, he can find the open man, but he has the size and speed to take it to the basket and the athleticism to finish in convincing fashion.
He's currently averaging 24.3 points, 8.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds on the year, and has been instrumental in Chicago's success on the year.
