A rested Tim Thomas, a motivated Marc Savard and a Bruins team that is just chomping at the bit to be an elite team in the NHL, take on the Montreal Canadiens in what many Bruin players are calling a must-win game.

After sitting the last three starts in which Tuukka Rask desperately needed to start in to get his season underway, Tim Thomas will be between the pipes tonight in what is promising to be a great game by two Eastern Conference teams.

Thomas is playing lights out hockey and it shows, being a leader in the league in just about every category a goalie can have, and he is looking forward to the game tonight to show that he and his teammates are prepared and ready to become to the team to beat in the East.

Marc Savard has some personal motivation in this game after giving up a real bad pass that led to the game-winning goal last game against Minnesota at the Garden which caused Coach Claude Julien to bench the Bruins star forward.

“That’s part of the business. You’ve got to move on,’’ said Savard of the benching. “It was tough to swallow. But in the same sense, we have a huge game [tonight], probably the biggest of the year. Hopefully we can respond to that.’’

All eyes will be on Montreal tonight to see if the Bruins respond to what the players are calling the biggest game of the year.
