WWE SmackDown! Review 12/31/10
Sorry this is a little late guys, I just got approved as a writer. Enjoy!
Wow! What a way to end the year with this great episode of Friday night SmackDown! Here's a summary of the show and what I thought.
Big Show def. "Dashing" Cody Rhodes by count out
Come on is this what the WWE is doing with Rhodes? This is not somewhere someone like him should be. He needs to be in the Intercontinental title picture very soon. Let's hope Cody has a better year in 2011. As for Big Show, well he's just the big show.
Drew McIntyre def Trent Barreta
A decent match but I just hope this little mini feud doesn't end in Barreta's release. I also wish the WWE wouldn't have broken the DudeBusters up and released Caylen Croft. Let's hope this feud goes somewhere and maybe gives McIntyre another push we've been waiting for.
World Heavyweight Champion Edge and Rey Mysterio def Kane and Alberto Del Rio
I was very very surprised to see that this wasn't the main event of SmackDown but not upset about it. It was a great energetic match that showed great team work from both teams. Although I feel like these two rivalries are getting a little old and stale I feel like they'll end them next week with the last man standing and two out of three falls match. It was great to see former WWE tag team champions Edge and Rey Rey work together so excitingly. Good match.
Divas Champion Natalya and Beth Phoenix def Lay-Cool
Seems like the demise of Lay-Cool is coming soon....
New Years Eve Party
Eh didn't really care for this much. Mildly entertaining. Not really.
Side note: Where the heck is Curt Hawkins? Please WWE give him some sort of push.
Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler def Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger
Awesome match! It was so energetic and it kind of reminded me of the old TNA days. There were some great spots in this match. Although I was almost positive we were going to have a new champion. But it's okay I love Ziggler as champ. The ending was very clever and very well executed. These three in the ring together are brilliant. 2011 is defiantly going to be Dolph Ziggler's year, and maybe even another Kofi Kingston push is in the future. But for Swagger I honestly think he'll stay in that lower or mid card zone for a while. Maybe even until his release. Hopefully I'm wrong about the former World Champion though. We will see.
Happy New Year everybody! Here's to a great 2011!!!
