It's official: Rich Rodriguez is out as the head football coach at the University of Michigan.
What started yesterday, with speculation, rumors and delays, became official this morning. Michigan athletic director David Brandon will hold a press conference at 12:30 p.m. EST, approximately half an hour from now, and we'll have the live updates for you.
The school said Brandon will discuss the state of the football program. In a release obtained by the Detroit News, Brandon said, "I have completed a systematic and thorough review of our football program and believe that a change in leadership is necessary. We have not achieved at the level that I expect...Rich is a good person and coach. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out at Michigan, but I'm sure that Rich and his staff will find opportunities at other institutions. I wish Rich and his family all the best in the future."
So, from that alone it appears Rodriguez's staff has been let go as well.
Keep it here for updates on the developing situation and more from Brandon when the press conference begins shortly in Ann Arbor.
