Tyrod Taylor deserves credit for what has to be his biggest play of the season.
Fortunately for the Hokies, Taylor is saving his best football for a big BCS bowl game, the Orange Bowl.
Early in the second quarter, with Virginia Tech behind Stanford 7-2, Taylor electrified his teammates with a stunning touchdown pass to David Wilson for an 11-yard completion in the end zone.
Taylor scrambled out of the pocket during the play and ran towards the sidelines trying to find an open defender in the end zone. With Stanford defenders zeroing in on the Hokies quarterback, Taylor spun around 360 degrees to avoid a Cardinal tackler and threw a pass to a diving Wilson.
Wilson caught the ball with an equally impressive dive near the sidelines and still somehow managed to land his foot inbounds.
After completing the extra point, Virginia Tech took the lead early in the quarter, 9-7.
However, a touchdown pass from Andrew Luck to Zach Ertz put Stanford back up in the following drive. A blocked extra point kept the Cardinal lead at 13-9.
With under two minutes left in the first half, Stanford still has the lead.
