All right, this hurts to break down, but it has to happen. And it's gonna be HARSH!
I had high hopes, just like a lot of other people, about DeAngelo Hall. Those hopes were deflated Monday night. You cannot be 10 feet away from your receiver every single play. He was burnt—badly—by a rookie, no less.
I hope it was fluke, and I won't make any predictions on how we will do until Week Four of regular season, as always, but if this is how the Raiders' defense is gonna play, then pack it up and put it away. That was horrendous in every form of the word. No heart!
Rob Ryan's lackluster defense underperformed on all sides. The penalties? Bad! No blitzing is ridiculous. Why not blitz??? Is that Ryan's fault or Al Davis? I don't know, and nobody else knows either, but somebody better infiltrate the Raiders' organization and clue somebody in on blitzing your opponent.
- B/R Ticket Guide
The only decent performance was from Russell. Give credit where credit is due. He has a crappy, Swiss cheese O-line and clueless, slippery-handed receivers. This is pretty much his rookie year, and the stats for the game with what he had to work with weren't bad.
The RBs are next. I don't care if you have Adrian Peterson, put him behind our O-line and he's gonna be crap. You can't call McFadden bad until you see him behind an O-line that opens up lines. Our O-line has the holes, but they are filled up with defenders. I actually feel bad for a few people on this team right now. There's such wasted talent!
If this happens again next week against the Chiefs, then we're in trouble. BIG Trouble!
I have nothing else to write about. That was just plain embarrassing, horrendous, ridiculous, stupid, and whatever other negative comment you can come up with.

I feel your pain FL Raider Girl. You are right on in just about everything here. Though I would add Fargas had a pretty good game - not that it mattered much.

Yeah, Fargas had a good game with 97 yards, but it was negated by 96 yards in penalties. Not by him, but still

Not really any decent receivers, but unless Walker stay healthy and starts wowing people, we probably would've been better served by making a move on a premier guy like Ocho or Boldin.
Sure paid him enough...

I think we will win this week. We will even blitz at times, it is so obviously needed that even Ryan see's it. He will go against Al's wishes just to save his face in the NFL. I know our O-line cannot pass protect but I have never been a huge fan of Curry as a receiver, he is below avg. It is pretty bad when they put champ on our tight end all night. Javon Walker, if he dont re-ag his hamstring will have a good game, and we should start Lelie as # 2. (at least he will go get the damn ball). I would like to see our fullbacks more and DMac in motion alot drawing all kinds of attention. What did happen to M Bush? where was he? D'angelo is fast, send him after the damn Q back once in awhile, our safeties will be able to handle it. ( it would resemble the woodson blitz in the great "snow job")

Mike,
What the hell has gotten into you? You are actually, well, nice. No bashing, no I told you so. I am shocked.
I don't know yet if I like the new you, or the old you better. One thing is for sure, you are always entertaining to read.
Maybe this week one of our teams will win. Good luck you to against Seattle.

A good QB is going to pick apart the best secondary if given the time Plummer had. Our problem until corrected is that the front 4 could not get pressure. Rob and Al got out-schemed by Shanahan...which brings us to the real problem "Rob and Al."

WTF? Rob Ryan's play calling made Kiffin look like a genius for wanting to get rid of Rob Ryan. The Raiders will never have a dominating defense with this clown at D coordinator. After Hall got burnt a few times by that rookie, Eddie Royal, Ryan should have had Nnamdi follow him around for the rest of the game. DeAngelo Hall needs to get his stuff together because Stanford Rout might take his job.

Wow Mike....someone messaged me (I won't tell who) and said you were posting nice. So I will actually respond.
I wish Kiffin would have yanked Hall. I understand like what Chris said, "A good QB is going to pick apart the best secondary if given the time Plummer had." With a QB correction, yes that was Cutler, any secondary would have got rocked. Except Nnamdi, I went back and watched him specifically, he was just about always right next to his man. But he's good and proven. Hall got burned a lot in Atlanta.
Anyway, that would of ripped through Davis and Ryan if Hall got pulled. And the 7 hairs, is it really that many??
And yes, I made it out there for the game. Even though we lost, (clobbered, crushed what ever you like to call it!) I had a blast. I met so many people and the nicest people ever.
So this next part is for all of you that think Oakland is dangerous. I am a female that traveled all alone out there, not knowing anybody. I hung out at Ricky's the night before, which a bar/restaurant specifically for Oakland sports. And then tailgated with the most gracious and generous people I have ever met. (most from myspace) I walked around Oakland, walked to the stadium from the hotel and nobody bothered me. Great place.
Remember Mike, we have the Patriots and the Jets also.

Good article, RG. Glad to hear that you had a good time at the game and the "criminal element" of the Nation didn't scare you away. How about an article about your experiences so that more out there can see that rape, plunder and pillage aren't part of the game day experience?
The offense was taken out tof their game plan when the game got away from our defense. And after that, there were zero turnovers and that is a good thing. JRuss had no int and made good decisions all day long. His untimely fumble, a dropped pass by Curry and an overthrow (by that much) to Curry kept this offense from hitting their stride.
