As Gomi is known for his power and takedown defense, his strengths were easily nullified by a hypnotizing Guida.
Even though Guida was able to mesmerize the former Pride champion and impose his will, Takanori seemed confused by the overall pace and awkward rhythm.
Though Gomi has strong hands, I feel he could’ve implemented periodic kicks in his gameplan, which could have potentially kept Clay at bay, plus created some offense, something Gomi had very little of.
Though I don’t recall seeing any leg kicks produced by Takanori in either round, it definitely implies a deficit in his repertoire.
