Here it is, the first pivotal week on the schedule. While most people like to say that an early loss will not hurt you. I want to say this year, an early loss all but ends your BCS hopes.

The schedule is packed with big games on Saturday; Ohio State-USC, Georgia-S. Carolina,Washington-Oklahoma,Texas-Arkansas,Fresno State-Wisconsin,Kansas-S.Florida. Most every team mentioned here has aspirations on a BCS bowl, and most likely the BCS championship.

This weekend is going to be a college football fans dream. Big games with big implications. Everbody wants to say their team will win and keep their championship hopes alive and well.

But what happens if they lose? Well, then everybody better get very religious and start praying for some crazy stuff to happen this season. Because with the parody in college football now, and the strength of the big conferences. A loss on Saturday will make any hopes at a national championship very slim.

For the underdogs this week, the key will be to keep the game close going into the fourth quarter. If they can do this, not only will it make for good watching, but it will give them the confidence to make a push late in the game and surprise someone.

For the favorites, the key is simple, Play your game, don't let the underdog make the tempo. Keep your eyes on the prize and don't get complacent.

This weekend will be a very important weekend to a lot of teams, but it could be a very sad weekend for others. As a fan, I feel lucky to be able to sit back and watch the drama unfold on Saturday.
