Rich Rodriguez: Michigan football coach evaluation will still take a few days
Get to know the name "David Brandon." That's the Michigan athletic director, and the man who will ultimately make the decision on whether Rich Rodriguez returns for a fourth season to coach the Wolverines.
But the decision won't come lightly, and it won't come quickly, so don't be looking for anything on Sunday or Monday. Brandon told the Detroit News, "I'm going to travel back to Ann Arbor when the team goes back (Sunday morning), and over the next few days will wr my work as far as my evaluation that has been a nine-month process. I will meet with my coach, and I will have more to say on this matter the latter part of the week.I have done a lot of work on this, and I will continue to work on it."
Part of this timing, and reasoning, has to be respect for Jim Harbaugh. If Michigan has any hope at all of landing the Stanford coach, it must lay low the next couple of days while Harbaugh and The Cardinal prepare for Monday night's Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech, and not shift the spotlight away from the game and the team's accomplishments this season.
