Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Charlie Weis is in negotiations to be the offensive coordinator at the University of Florida, under new coach Will Muschamp. It is reported that the Gators asked and received permission to talk to Weis about the opening. He is expected to accept the position.

The choice of Weis would indicate the Gators intention to run a more pro style offense.

It will be interesting to see what the move would mean for returning quarterback John Brantley and incoming freshman Jeff Driskell. Brantley is thought to be a good fit for a pro style attack. Driskell was recruited by Urban Meyer, but has the physical tools to succeed in any offense.

Muschamp told the Orlando Sentinel that no announcements would be made regarding his coaching staff until after Saturday's Outback Bowl.
