A tremendous Thursday afternoon to you and welcome to the 2010 Armed Forces Bowl from the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Gerald J. Ford Stadium here in Dallas, TX.
It's a cloudy day here in Dallas, but the temperatures are expected to reach 70 degrees, so it's an absolutely perfect day for football.
The best thing about walking around the campus is seeing all the men and women in their uniforms from Army to Navy to the Marines. It's a sight to behold and one you don't get to see that often unless you're attending the Army-Navy game at the end of the season.
The SMU Mustangs are on the north end of the stadium in the uniforms they'll be wearing next season, which consists of black tops and white pants with white helmets, which might confuse a lot of people, seeing as black is nowhere in the school colors, but I digress.
To the south is Army in their white tops and gold pants with gold helmets.
Most would wonder how SMU got home-field advantage for a bowl game. Well, after TCU had one side of their stadium imploded to allow them to make some big upgrades, the game had to be moved, so this was the only logical place to move it.
Someone asked me why this didn't end up being at Cowboys Stadium. Well, let me put it this way. This game isn't big enough to get Jerry Jones' attention.
We're just 33 minutes to kickoff and I hope you'll hang around with me today as we break down the game between the SMU Mustangs and Army Black Knights.
This should be a great game between these two teams.
