Tucker Carlson: Fox News Pundit Says Michael Vick Should Be "Executed"
Fox News political pundit Tucker Carlson created a media firestorm Wednesday night, when he said that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick should have been executed for his treatment of dogs.
A conservative political commentator known for his bowties and occasionally outlandish statements, Carlson was discussing President Barack Obama's commendation of Eagles owner Jeffrey Laurie for giving Vick a chance to show he's rehabilitated. Vick served 18 months for dogfighting and racketeering, and Obama has said in the past he believes people who have served sentences for crimes deserve a chance to show they're rehabilitated.
"I'm a Christian, I've made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances," Carlson said on the show. "But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did [it] in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should've been executed for that. He wasn't, but the idea that the president of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs?"
Carlson continued his attack by calling Vick "a creepy, overpaid football player".
The Eagles declined comment.
