Bears-Colts: Are The Bears Who We Thought They Were?

The Chicago Bears' defence spoiled the Indianapolis Colts' first regular-season game at their brand new stadium.

This leads me to the question: Are the Bears who we thought they were?

Undoubtedly, the curse of the Super Bowl loser has ravaged the NFL in past years, with Seattle being the only team in the last seven to make a playoff game after losing a Super Bowl in the previous season.

An efficient offence and stellar defence kept the Bears alive against the Colts, with rookie from Tulane Matt Forte rushing for 123 yards. Ex-Lion Kevin Jones also weighed in with 45 yards on 12 carries.

Kyle Orton looked good under centre as the Bears' signal caller, and the offensive line did an awesome job of creating running holes and pass protection.

The Colts had no excuses after Sunday’s game, but with an inexperienced front three on the offensive line, and a QB that missed the preseason, maybe they showed a bit of rust?

Turnovers were key, and the Bears answered questions about the defence, with a couple of sacks of Peyton Manning and stopping the run by limiting Joseph Addai to only 44 yards.

A forced fumble from Charles Tillman, recovered by Lance Briggs, created a swarm of blockers as he found the end zone, this after a safety from Adawale Ogunleye on Joseph Addai.

So, I ask you: Are the Bears who we thought they were?
