Mike Singletary of the San Francisco 49ers was relieved of his coaching duties late Sunday night after his Niners lost to the St. Louis Rams.

The 49ers were sitting at just 5-9, but since the NFC West has been the worst division in the NFL this season, San Francisco still had a shot at the playoffs.

But that loss on Sunday completely eliminated the team from the playoff hunt.
