Jim Tressel: Is Coach Tressel Walking Away from Ohio State Football?
Ohio State Football Rumors: Is Jim Tressel Stepping Down as Buckeyes Head Coach?
(Note: This story is still classified as a rumor. It has not been confirmed by any involved parties.)
Earlier today, rumors began circulating that Ohio State football head coach Jim Tressel is stepping down from his position after the Buckeyes play in the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas on January 4th.
Now, only one source has reported this story so far, but rumor has it that Ohio State football recruits are being told that Jim Tressel would not be the Buckeyes' head coach in 2011.
The tone of this blog indicates that Tressel is being let go (not stepping down), but it's a bit hard to believe that a school would fire a head coach with a record as outstanding as that of Coach Tressel.
On the other hand, unless Tressel wants completely out of college football, it is also hard to believe that he would walk away from one the best athletic programs (and one of the best coaching jobs) in the country.
With Ohio State players already receiving suspensions for NCAA violations, many rumors will begin to surface.
So is there any truth to this story?
Doubtful, but only time will tell.
